According to the UN, 1,940 people were listed as dead or missing there in 2022; civil organisations assume a much higher number. <\/p>\n<p>At the same time, <strong>civilian sea rescue initiatives are increasingly criminalised,<\/strong> with aid workers being accused of human trafficking.
